* The 1975: Pure Genius *

Who are The 1975?

The 1975 are a quartet of geniuses who are swiftly rising to fame. They pride themselves on having an eclectic genre; a mix of r'n'b, indie and pop. My favourite genres! They're perfect. The 23 year old lads have been friends since school, skipping PE lessons to express rebellion and instead, formed a band. A school councillor encouraged all students to start bands and from then on The 1975 were born. Wait no, that's a lie. These boys have kept their fans on their toes, changing their name FOUR times...The big sleep, Drive Like I do, Talk House and now The 1975. They settled with this when Matty was haunted by the random discovery of suicidal confession etched on the back of a poetry book, given to him in Ibiza as he was passing by a farm house, titled  "1 June. The 1975", its eerie contents exposing the owners plummet to insanity greatly impacted Healy, and so this is when The 1975 were formed.

Matthew Healy: Vocals and Guitar

Adam Hann: Guitar
George Daniel: Drums
Ross MacDonald: Bass

Stalking their every movement and interview, the correlation is that Matty tends to do the groups interviews coming across as genuinely "humbled" by the successes of their now not so "underground"  band who feel passionately that they do not want to "subscribe to the traditional mould of what a band should sound like".

Originally the boys are from Manchester, however Matt was born in London and drummer Daniel was born in Brussels.

Matty in Southend! Before the gig they played at Chinnery's.

Matty's infamous black slouchy hoody should be sold everywhere. You'd expect a rock star to be chugging from the bottle. Nope. He felt like showing his classy side with ONE glass of rosé. Maybe because he wanted to remember an amazing night in Essexxx eh ehhhh, but most probably to savour the moment when he serenaded "robbers" to moi. (Robber's is from when the band were called Drive Like I Do)  Did you know it's a love song too? My favourite bit is the opening line "she had a face straight out a magazine" - Oh Matty, you're so subtle ;)

SOOOOOOOOOOO, if you haven't noticed, Ebony and I are both wearing leather. Why? Because we thought it'd cool if we matched. Actually, it is a trend in Japan for friends to co ordinate outfits, however that's not what went down. Wearing leather to a gig is a rule of the centuries so it's not surprising that we coincidently rocked this fabric. We've worn it quite differently though.

Leather immediately has sexy connotation, so you don't need to sex it up any more. So I paired it with a rocky, red checked, buttoned up shirt because the casualness softens the sexiness. Rolling up the sleeves makes everything a bit more edgier too, but instead of doing a 3 quarters sleeve, I wanted to make it look cute but still cool so I rolled it to a school boy summer shirt length. For those who are a bit more girly than grungy, then a skirtttt is a good way to do a sexy leather trend, whilst still being you.

POSING CAN BE TIRINGGGGGGGGGGGG!

Ebony chose to wear high waisted shorts because they're more practical. When you're moshing you don't want your skirt rising and flashing you little bot bot..or do you?! The shorts lengthened Eb's 5ft 8" physique as the black focuses on each leg with the material individually hugging her tight. Black high wasted shorts have also made her legs look longer as the block of black means the eye travels from toes past the hip, finishing to her waist, thus extending her already long legs! Good trick to know baby.

I'm sporting burgundy knee highs to not look like a prozzie. Ironic I know. But if I didnt cover my legs then the tights and leather skirt on its own would be too..too exposing.

Jesus, look at Ebony's pins. Her secret; she loves to dance!

Laugh your way though li..fashion. FASHION IS FUN.

KISS HER QUICK.

MAKE UP

Ebony is rocking a vampy violet lippy from Mac costing £9. She just goes to show that fair skin wont be washed out by such a deep and striking hue. But this look wouldn't have worked if she didn't complement the grungy look with black Rimmel eyeliner £4. Think about it, imagine if she wore this sultry lipstick with shimmery shadow or natural eye make up! It wouldn't work. Don't be afraid of wearing extra make-up, there's a difference to looking fakecake and made up. Sometimes more make up is needed to complete a look. Plus, it's acceptable when you're out on the raz.

Crosses - Primark £2.00
Layered tiers -Troll Southend £4.50

JEWELLERY TO ENTICE THE BOYS.
Layer up long necklaces to create a heavy, chunky effect. It will harden the cute skirt and girly bowed tights. Rememeber the more jewellery the more gangster you are. Clearly. So don't go over the top...what am I saying, you can never go wrong with too much jewellery. Do Coolio proud!

Who wear's the fedora the best ;)

Matty stealing a kiss! Naughty boy. And look at him touching my hand...he wants me.

The 1975 followed us because they love our style!

Love them even more because they can rock leopard print.
